When Science Meets Design: The Bacterial Logo That Blew Our Minds
Okay, design fam — buckle up, because we just stumbled across something wildly creative and we’re still not quite over it.
Crucible, a consultancy that plays in the world of drinks and flavours, went full mad scientist on their branding — and we mean that in the best way possible. Instead of whipping up a typical logo, they grew one. Literally. With bacteria. In petri dishes.
Yep, actual living, wriggling microbes were carefully cultivated to form their logo. It’s weird. It’s wonderful. It’s wildly original—a bacterial logo.
What we love about it is how it bridges the worlds of science and art in such a seamless, gutsy way. The final result? A logo that doesn’t just represent their brand — it lives and evolves, just like the ideas they bring to the table. It’s organic (in every sense of the word), attention-grabbing, and honestly? Kind of hypnotic.
This is what happens when you throw the design rulebook out the window and say, “What if we try something totally different?” It’s bold, it’s brave, and it totally works. We’re obsessed. More of this energy in the design world, please.
Now we’re off to find a lab coat and some agar plates… for research purposes, obviously.
Check out Crucible’s website and a video version of the bacterial logo.
