Illustration is such a powerful medium and it has such a broad stylistic range that we’re always finding new and interesting creatives out there producing amazing new work. For this blog post, I’d like to bring to your attention a wonderful artist called Maria Dimova, from Andorra.

Mary’s blog and Instagram page showcases her imaginative works that focuses on portraits of characters from fantasy novels and games.

Mary takes inspiration from the pages of books to build what she thinks the characters would look like. Her illustrations are bold and striking, yet also comforting as she brings peoples favourite book characters to life. Some of her portraits are hyperealistic as if the subject was standing right in front of the artist, whereas others are dreamlike and ethereal with soft hues of blues, purples and white.
