Young woman looking out at autumn leaves - it's okay to be bored sometimes

It’s Okay to be Bored

In today’s world, it seems we are almost always surrounded by things to do and endless distractions. Our phones, social media, and the constant rush of life can make it hard to be still. But stillness is important for our minds and hearts. Taking time to pause and breathe—it’s okay to be bored even—can actually help us recharge. It allows us to reflect, clear our thoughts, and reconnect with ourselves in a deeper way.

As autumn arrives, nature invites us to slow down. The days get shorter, the air turns cooler, and the leaves fall gently from the trees. This season reminds us that there is beauty in stillness. By embracing quiet moments, we can notice the simple wonders around us, like the crisp smell of the air or the golden colours of the leaves.

Being still during autumn helps us appreciate the small details we can so often just overlook. It teaches or reminds us about patience and mindfulness, encouraging us to stay present in the moment. We don’t always need to be entertained or busy. But it can be so hard to switch off.

So as we move deeper into the season, let’s allow ourselves to slow down from time to time and enjoy the stillness. Whether it’s a peaceful walk in the park or simply sitting and watching the leaves fall for a bit, autumn offers a perfect time to reconnect with the beauty around us and the stillness within us.

And you know, that benefits us at work as well as in life generally. In the creative sector particularly, periods of reflection are hard to come by in a busy world, but so important for the creative process. These moments help us think, brings ideas together—sometimes in subconscious—and ultimately be better at what we do. So never feel that you can’t slow down and entreating the idea of being quiet or even slightly bored.
