Cool 80’s Inspired Retro Electric Car
Here’s something that wouldn’t usually be at the top of my design radar, but in this case I’m going to make an exception because this one really caught my eye.
Anyone who knows me would readily admit that I’m not a petrol-head by any means, but the latest retro electric car to be released by Hyundai has me buzzing with some excitement (so maybe I’m a volt-head?).
In an effort to attract vintage car-lovers to the electric car market, Hyundai have unveiled a fully electric version of its famed 1980’s saloon car.
The car itself has kept its original black boxy design with luxurious leather seats and velvet upholstery on the inside, but with many modernised features including LED pixel-style head and taillights and a sleek touchscreen on the dashboard.
I think it’s great that the makers of this car decided to pay homage to such an iconic car, it’s the perfect blend of nostalgia and futuristic tech and I could absolutely see this car featured in some kind of retro-futuristic thriller. Hopefully this one will be launched and available at some point in the future.
I hope other car makers take note and continue this idea on other cars from the past, perhaps we’ll even see fully electric vintage Ford Escorts on our roads soon!
